The journal

Thought, engagement, and the communication of meanings depend upon perception. Synæsthesia is an international, multi-media refereed journal that aims to unravel issues of communication practices and contemporary theoretical frameworks.

From the subjective-embodied to the objective, inter-personal to mass-marketed, regional to global, academic to corporate, among genders and across time, Synæsthesia strives to traverse disciplinary boundaries and advance new perspectives of understanding within and across cultures.

New perspectives are sought on understanding, being understood, or interpreting culture and its power to shape and transform the individual and society. Articles are rigorously peer-reviewed, and scholarly work accepted for publication in the online journal will receive subsequent consideration for the publication of future collected volumes.

The editors and reviewers value open and responsive communication as much as open access to knowledge. Editors invite articles, essays, reviews and photo journalistic work rigorous in scholarship yet accessible in style for audiences somewhat wider than highly trained specialists in areas of communication, media studies, sociology, semiotics, rhetoric, education, the visual arts, or literature.
